Identity Wins Crisis Management Campaign of the Year

By: Andrea Trapani

We are exceptionally proud to share that Identity has won the PR News Platinum Awards Crisis Management Campaign of the Year for 2022—a monumental national recognition for our agency as we celebrate our 24th year.

The past few years have been chock full of opportunities and lessons for all companies. For Identity, the result has been unprecedented clarity for our vision, bold agency goals and unwavering philosophy to deliver big ideas and great work with strong and lasting client partnerships.

With several compelling campaigns completed in the past year, we knew it was the time to take heed of the advice we often share with clients. We chose to be confident in our results and accomplishments. We pursued a series of industry awards on a national stage against recognized brand campaigns produced by our peers and competitors across the country. It’s led us to win the industry’s top honors from leading PR publications for work that was powerful and life-changing.

Crisis situations are not rare in our industry. We navigate challenging and nuanced crisis moments on behalf of clients on a regular basis. We are skilled in counseling what steps need to be taken immediately to stay ahead of rapidly unfolding situations and what types of communications activity makes a difference for all involved.

We were contacted within hours of the tragic shooting at Oxford High School in late November 2021. Our expertise and proven process of springing into immediate action was tested like never before. Since early 2020, we have been challenged regularly—facing more crisis scenarios than ever before—but this was something none of us could have anticipated and the type of crisis you hope to never need to address. We spent the next week wholly immersed in one of the most heartbreaking events any of us had ever been part of. It was a true test of our team’s crisis management and media relations skills, as well as our resolve.

Ultimately, each critical decision we made that week—from managing national, high profile media requests to prescribing the right strategic messaging, from developing robust social media reporting specially designed to capture the scale of this crisis to hosting the eyes of the world in Oakland County for high-demand press conferences—led our agency to be stronger and better equipped to navigate the unknown.

We are beyond honored to be recognized among other top industry peers in what was introduced as the most important award of the evening at the PR News Platinum Awards event at Cipriani 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan. In a room of industry leaders and PR pros from organizations of all sizes, being named Crisis Management Campaign of the Year is a testament to the expertise, dedication and drive of every single member of our team who had some role in ensuring we could navigate such a complex time and come out better and stronger on the other side.

We are full of gratitude to PR News and the panel of esteemed judges who evaluated each campaign strategy, philosophy and their results. And we appreciate all the outpouring of kind congratulatory messages from our client partners, agency supporters, industry peers, media contacts both at the event and in the days that followed.

We’re humbled to say there are more award-winning moments ahead for Identity. The incredible work our team has delivered for national spotlight programs has never been at a more rigorous cadence. Our portfolio of clients in the diverse industries we serve has never been stronger. This is certainly a special moment we will never forget.

Our talented team is to thank for this recognition on a national stage and our continued success as an agency. We’re even more inspired to continue creating and driving the bold and big ideas, strategies and campaigns that truly leave a mark on our clients’ brands, businesses and the communities they serve.
