Jaffe Partner Shirley A. Kaigler Appointed to Diversity and Inclusion Committee

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., November 8, 2011 – Shirley A. Kaigler, partner with Southfield-based Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C., has been appointed to a three-year term on the State Bar of Michigan Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Jaffe CEO Richard Zussman made the announcement.
The committee is responsible for identifying tools and strategies to assess the current state of diversity and inclusion in the Michigan legal community, helping to set meaningful benchmarks that will measure improvements and progress. Members review concepts and ideas, and make recommendations for support, implementation or other appropriate actions to State Bar of Michigan leadership, committees and other bar associated entities.
Ms. Kaigler serves as group coordinator of the Firm’s Estate Planning/Wealth Planning/Probate Group specializing in probate and trust administration; estate, tax, retirement and business succession planning; elder law; and health care proxy and special needs issues.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree with distinction from Wayne State University and is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. Ms. Kaigler also earned her LL.M. in taxation from Wayne State University Law School.
She has been consecutively listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2007 and in Michigan Super Lawyers Magazine from 2006 to 2009. In 2010, Michigan Lawyers Weekly selected Ms. Kaigler as a Women in the Law honoree. She currently serves as a member of the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association, the Wolverine Bar Association, and as an advisory board member for the Anti-Defamation League and a board member for the Council of Michigan Foundations.
