By: Identity Team
INKSTER, Mich., November 9, 2011 – Inkster-based Starfish Family Services (Starfish), a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating brighter futures for the children of at-risk families in metropolitan Detroit, is pleased to announce the Livonia Jaycees, a premiere leadership training organization for young adults, will host their second annual “Stuff an RV” event to collect items for local families in need.
The Livonia Jaycees will invite community members to visit the Wal-Mart located at 29574 Seven Mile Road in Livonia from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 20 to make donations and work together to fill an RV with necessary supplies for families who struggle with poverty. Items requested include, but are not limited to, non-perishable food items, diapers, toiletries and children’s winter clothes.
“Last year, the Jaycees started this creative initiative to encourage the community to come together for those in need and raised more than $3,000 in such needed items as diapers and formula to help families with young children during the holidays,” said Starfish Chief Executive Officer Ann Kalass. “We’re extremely grateful for this group’s assistance and look forward to seeing what they collect this year!”
