More than 3,400 meals provided for metro Detroiters
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., February 1, 2013 — Southfield-based Farbman Group, a leading full-service real estate company, hosted their fourth annual “Christmas in January” food drive to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan and collected enough food and cash donations to offer more than 3,400 meals to metro Detroit families in need. The food drive took place Tuesday, January 29 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at five Farbman Group office buildings, located in Southfield, Bingham Farms, Troy and Detroit.
Farbman Group employees, building tenants and members of the community filled collection boxes and trucks at each drop-off location with a variety of items recommended by Gleaners, including high protein canned items, personal care items, individually packaged healthy snacks for kids and cash donations. Each donor who gave at least $5 or five cans of food was entered to win an iPad mini, compliments of Farbman Group.
“This food drive has been incredibly successful year after year, we are proud to have collected more than 1,900 pounds of food to benefit Gleaners, which means more than 3,400 meals for our hungry neighbors this winter,” said Andrew V. Farbman, president and CEO of Farbman Group. “The outpouring of generosity from our tenants and the local community during a time when people are not typically thinking about giving back will make all the difference to those in need. We look forward to hosting another successful drive next January.”
