Tom Nixon to Speak on Social Media at HRAGD

BINGHAM FARMS, Mich., September 25, 2009—Tom Nixon, a partner at Bingham Farms, Mich.-based Identity Marketing & Public Relations, will speak on the developing role of social media and its utility in making hiring decisions, employing successful branding campaigns and attracting potential employees. The presentation hosted by the Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit (HRAGD), will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 7:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the Michigan First Credit Union Community Room in Lathrup Village, Mich.

HRAGD workshops touch on industry topics aimed to help provide Detroit-area human resources professionals with the tools to enhance employee relations and support business development. The October presentation is entitled “Effective Use of Social Networking for Employee Recruitment and Organization Branding.”

Nixon, a veteran public relations and marketing specialist with over twelve years of industry experience, will bring to his discussion an emphasis on utilizing social media technologies to attract and assess qualified applicants with respect to individual public Web behavior. He will address tactics for properly engaging and networking with online contacts, specifically focusing on the LinkedIn platform, its services and application plug-ins. He will also discuss optimizing online presence with social networking tools such as Facebook, Twitter and blogs.
