RE: TIME Magazine Announces 2008 Person of the Year

By: Mark Winter

You bring up an interesting point, Colleen. It is one thing (and a great big thing) to build a brand. Quite another to maintain it, especially in the face of adversity. When Jack in the Box restaurants saw their brand armor chinking due to an E.coli scare, what followed was one of the most successful rebrands in recent memory.

So it will be interesting to see. The brilliantly crafted and maintained (to this point) brand of Barack Obama will most certainly be tested. Economy, war, scandals, normal presidential wear and tear, etc. We will all watch closely to see if Obama’s branding machine can maintain the image with the same aplomb with which it crafted it.
