Movie of the Week: Behind the Scenes at FAIL Blog
By: Nikki Little
Light fare for this week: a behind the scenes look at FAIL blog.
I’m not sure why I find this fascinating, but I do. If you’re not familiar, FAIL is a blog of well, fails…Google it to learn the back story. Such a simple, small idea turns into something big—and maybe that’s why I find it interesting to see how it all operates behind closed doors…
This is highly successful blog, with over 5 million hits per month. Why is it so successful? Lessons learned:
1.) Be interesting (in their case, funny).
2.) Be original. Find something that no one else is doing, and do it better than anyone else could.
3.) Engage your audience. This site is largely fed by user submissions.
4.) Promote it. FAIL does a great job using other outposts as a way to gain recognition for their blog.
