gaming is the new blockbuster – update

It seems the initial expectations for Grand Theft Auto IV’s sales numbers were completely blown out of the water today.  According to an article in the New York Times, Take-Two Interactive (the game’s published) is expected to announce that the controversial game earned $500 million in its first week.  This translates to nearly six million copies sold in the first seven days of its release.  Even more shocking, 3.6 million of which were in the first 24 hours.
