Become A Good Samaritan
By: Erin Robinson
As Identity continues our annual corporate giving campaign, we look to Q2 and our partnership with the Samaritan House—a community service organization devoted to serving individuals and families by recognizing their needs and mobilizing the means for dealing with those needs so that suffering can be relieved, dignity preserved and love shared.
Leading up to the 2012 school year, Identity will be holding a backpack drive to send local kids back to school prepared, confident and ready to learn. Looking back, there are many memories around picking out that perfect backpack for the new school year. Whether you went for Super Heroes, Barbies or Care Bears (ahem, Brandon Chesnutt – kidding!), those were cherished moments that marked the beginning of the next step.
Unfortunately, many kids here in our own backyard don’t have those memories or the sense of pride that goes with walking the halls with a new backpack and all the supplies you need to thrive. Through our partnership with the Samaritan House, Identity is working to change that!
We’ve set a goal to contribute 36 fully stocked backpacks to the Samaritan House. We’ll be filling the backpacks with thumb drives, art supplies, calculators, writing utensils, notebooks, dictionaries and much more.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be Identity without a bit of healthy competition. There will be an internal challenge to see who can raise the most for the worthy cause, and we’re looking to our friends, family and business partners for support!
Contributions can be made in an Identity team members’ name to ensure they get the credit, or you can donate to the cause through Identity as a company. It’s simple! Visit our fundraising page, where you can select any level of support you’d like, all paid through PayPal. For $50, you can sponsor a full backpack.
The backpack drive officially runs from June 15-30, so we’ll have two weeks to meet—or beat—our goal. Identity is providing the backpacks, and all funds donated will go directly to supplies to fill them!
We truly appreciate any and all support you can provide in this charitable endeavor.
Throughout the competition, visit our Facebook page for classic “back to school” photos of the Identity team, featuring our favorite backpacks. To get the embarrassment started, here’s a 1989 throwback of my first day of preschool.
Do you have a “back to school” photo to share with the class? Post it on our Facebook page!
