DETROIT, October 15, 2009 – Southfield, Mich. based The iGroup, the region’s leading model and talent agency and exclusive representation for the Miss Michigan USA organization, has partnered with The Parade Company to sponsor America’s Thanksgiving Parade’s Princess Scholarship Program. Tony DiMambro, lead talent agent at The iGroup, made the announcement.
America’s Thanksgiving Parade, which will celebrate its 83rd year, will travel down Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Mich. on November 26, 2009, and will feature a princess float with Miss Michigan USA 2010 Rima Fakih, The iGroup’s spokeswoman for the Princess Scholarship Program, and Miss Teen Michigan USA Catherine McGhee along with the winners of the Princess Scholarship Program. The scholarship competition recognizes four outstanding women who demonstrate exceptional performance in academics; campus and community involvement; and a running historical knowledge of America’s Thanksgiving Parade. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 23 and currently enrolled in an accredited Michigan college or university with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
One winner of the Princess Scholarship Program will be crowned the queen of America’s Thanksgiving Parade and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The runners-up will be named parade princess ambassadors and will each receive a $250 scholarship. The 2009 queen will be featured alongside Ms. Fakih and Ms. McGhee on a float of royalty, recognizing their superior academic and philanthropic achievements. The winners will assume reign from November 2009 until November 2010 and will represent the Princess Scholarship Program at some of Detroit’s most acclaimed seasonal events, including the Detroit Target Fireworks and River Days Festival.
“It is our honor to take part in such a positive scholarship program for the women of Michigan,” said DiMambro. “This is a great opportunity for young women working hard for an education to not only receive money for school but to also participate in such a great tradition for Detroit.”
