KAR Auction Services Collects 6,800 Items for Midwest Food Bank

KAR family of companies competes in third annual Battle of the Floors

CARMEL, Ind., December 11, 2013 – Carmel, Ind.-based KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE: KAR), a provider of used vehicle auction services, collected 6,800 food items and $966 for the Indianapolis branch of Midwest Food Bank as a result of the company’s third annual Battle of the Floors food drive. KAR Auction Services, Inc. CEO Jim Hallett made the announcement.

Battle of the Floors pits all five floors of KAR’s Carmel, Ind. headquarters against one another in a friendly competition to raise money and food for charity. This year’s donations, including hearty, non-perishable food items and money, far surpassed the previous year’s tallies.

“Our team is competitive and ambitious, but also very compassionate and committed to the communities we serve,” said Hallett. “Battle of the Floors channels that drive and deep desire to give back into a powerful, fun and meaningful initiative that makes a big difference for families in our region around the holidays.”

The company chose to benefit the Indianapolis branch of Midwest Food Bank for the second consecutive year. Midwest Food Bank’s mission is to gather large food donations from nationwide corporations like KAR, and distribute these donations to local social service organizations and national disaster sites free of charge.

Battle of the Floors is part of KAR’s ongoing annual corporate giving campaign, which serves a variety of local Indianapolis-area and national organizations.
