ROCHESTER, N.Y., December 17, 2012 – Corrigan Moving Systems, a full-service relocation company dedicated to elevating the moving experience, announced today it partnered with Rochester-based Pirate Toy Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to donating toys year-round to local children in need, to deliver more than 2,000 gifts to children affected by Hurricane Sandy. Corrigan General Manager Marabeth Galardi made the announcement.
The Pirate Toy Fund hosted a holiday party on Dec. 15 at Staten Island’s Vanderbilt building to which all victims impacted by Sandy were invited to attend and receive holiday gifts. To help with the effort, Corrigan donated one of its moving trucks and a driver to transport the more than 2,000 toys from the Pirate Toy Fund’s headquarters in Rochester to the holiday party in Staten Island. The event drew in more than 500 FEMA-registered children, and featured Santa, a choir and a small holiday concert performed by Pirate Toy Founder Gary the Happy Pirate.
“The devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy left many in and around our community in need this holiday season,” Galardi said. “As a family-owned company, it was rewarding to bring our Corrigan family together to partner with the Pirate Toy Fund in spreading some holiday cheer.”
Founded in 1995, the Pirate Toy Fund has collected and distributed more than 200,000 toys since 2000 to children in need.
