AGIS Named One of Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For

BIRMINGHAM, Mich., September 1, 2009 — AGIS, a full-service insurance agency based in Birmingham, Mich., has been selected by the Michigan Business & Professional Association (MBPA) as one of  “Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For.”  Mike Nixon, president of AGIS of Michigan, made the announcement.

The annual “101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For” listing features companies that recognize employees as their greatest asset and demonstrate best practices in human resources.  Businesses that appeared on the 2009 listing were evaluated based on various workplace issues, such as compensation and benefits, education and development initiatives, recruiting and retention practices, and community involvement.

AGIS has implemented several programs that are designed to promote employee satisfaction and retention. One such initiative is the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which features on-site sessions for employees and their families on topics such as financial and stress management. In addition, AGIS has held a number of “Lunch ‘n’ Learn” programs to educate employees on work/life balance and other topics chosen by the workforce.

AGIS has also increased its involvement in the local community; charitable ventures that are completed as a team have created a unified, uplifting environment at the office.
