Walgreens Opens at Cherokee South Plaza

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., March 5, 2010 — Westchester, Ill.-based Tri-land Properties, Inc. announced today that a 14,820-square-foot, stand-alone Walgreens is now open at the company’s Cherokee South Plaza project in Overland Park, Kan. The announcement was made by Hugh Robinson, Tri-Land’s Executive Vice President of Acquisitions.
“With high name recognition and a strong consumer base, Walgreens will serve as a great anchor tenant and we are excited to have it up and running,” said Robinson. “As we continue with the redevelopment of Cherokee South, we look forward to providing Overland Park with an outstanding community destination.”
Tri-Land’s redevelopment of the 118,000-square-foot Cherokee South center includes the complete demolition of one building, the construction of three new buildings and the addition of many new retail tenants. Other tenants include, Kansas Sample, Hallmark Cards, Golf-Tec, Cherokee Liquors, H&R Block, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, Paul Mitchell School, and several local and regional retail and service providers. The redeveloped Cherokee South Plaza will also include outdoor patios, tree-lined walkways, sidewalk planters and public spaces for neighborhood use.
The project is scheduled for a Summer 2010 completion.
