Verizon Opens New Smart Store in Rochester Hills

Connected technology for fitness, home automation at the heart of new location

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Verizon Wireless, a technology leader with the nation’s largest and most reliable 4G LTE network, opened its newest “Smart Store” in Rochester Hills, Mich. over the weekend. Verizon Wireless Regional President Lauren-Love Wright made the announcement.

“Verizon is continuing to invest in Michigan and grow our presence here,” said Love-Wright. “Our Smart Stores provide an opportunity for a stronger connection with customers and a shopping experience based on a connected lifestyle for fitness, home automation, music and more.”

More than 500 came to the Rochester Hills location (3159 S. Rochester Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48307) for the grand opening event on Saturday, March 14, receiving a variety of high-tech prizes. Store manager David Gross was on hand to greet customers and help them navigate the Smart Store.

“We’re thrilled to be part of a tech-savvy community here in Rochester Hills,” said Gross. “The possibilities available for consumers today through the ‘internet of things’ are vast. Our team members are excited to act as guides to share the latest connected technology to give them a unique and valuable experience.”

Verizon Wireless plans to convert its entire fleet of 1,700 communications Stores into Smart Stores over the next few years. Verizon Wireless store representatives now use tablets to assist customers with sales and service. Representatives are able to spend more time with customers with the barrier of the cash register/counter eliminated.
