Members prepare more than 3,000 meals for children in need
SAN ANTONIO, Texas, June 27, 2013 – Members of USFN–America’s Mortgage Banking Attorneys, recently took time out from their participation at the organization’s most recent mortgage servicing seminar on June 5 to join forces with the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB), a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger in southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education and advocacy. USFN Executive Director & CEO Alberta Hultman made the announcement.
Twenty USFN members spent the morning at SAFB, working to assist the local community in efforts to alleviate hunger. Throughout the year, SAFB partners with local businesses and organizations to help provide 500 partner agencies in 16 counties throughout southwest Texas with food and grocery products. While at SAFB, the members worked in two groups with some assisting in the planting and collection of fruits, vegetables and other edible plants in SAFB’s community garden, and another group organizing and packaging approximately 3,000 meals, ready to be delivered to children in need in the San Antonio community.
“At each of our loan servicing seminars during the year, our members look forward to, and take pride in, making a positive impact on the local communities in which we meet,” said USFN President Marcy Ford. “It is truly inspirational to work with an influential organization such as the San Antonio Food Bank and make a difference in the lives of those in need in southwest Texas.”
The San Antonio Food Bank initiative was part of USFN’s bi-annual community service program, in which members and clients are able to volunteer their time to benefit local food banks. Previous beneficiaries included Capital Area Food Bank of Texas and San Diego Food Bank among others.
USFN’s June seminar focused on the evolving needs of the loan management and servicing industry, providing in-depth discussions on the topics currently affecting businesses, including advanced foreclosure issues, bankruptcy, mediation and loss mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
