Stautzenberger Institute Offers New Film Industry Training Courses with S3 Entertainment Group

Classes will be led by industry experts and prepare students for
paid positions in Michigan’s growing film industry

DETROIT, December 2, 2010 – The Stautzenberger Institute (SI), an Allen Park, Mich.-based nationally accredited provider of occupational education, in association with S3 Entertainment Group (S3), a Ferndale, Mich.-based production company and a premier liaison in bringing film productions into Michigan, announced the addition of the new SI Film Industry Training (FIT) classes to its curriculum beginning December 13, 2010. Roger Kidd, vice president of business development for SI, made the announcement.

Following the success of S3’s FIT Film Industry Training program that launched in 2008, SI has entered into an agreement with S3 to bring its proven curriculum to SI’s growing metro Detroit campus located at 16630 Southfield Road in Allen Park. S3 has trained over 500 Michigan residents to work in the film industry and has over a 90 percent job placement rate for its FIT graduates.

“As an accredited institute focused on occupational education, we take great pride in our ability to provide our students with the best opportunities available for employment after graduation,” said Kidd. “The Michigan film industry is growing and by adding these courses to our already successful curriculum, we are increasing the chances that more of our graduates will find employment in an in-demand career field. S3’s proven success with training students to be career ready after taking the Film Industry Training course makes them the perfect team to educate our students.”

The FIT classes will now be offered through SI and taught at the SI campus and SI/S3 Studios in Allen Park. The classes will be instructed by film industry experts from S3 and highly qualified guest speakers and will provide an introduction to Film Special FX, a Film Industry Overview, Grip/Electric/Generator Operator instruction, Introduction to the Film Art Department, Introduction to Film Production Accounting and Introduction to the Camera Department.

Students will work hand in hand with S3’s experienced film industry professionals to develop a working knowledge of the jobs available in Michigan’s rapidly emerging feature film industry, as well as the skills necessary to work efficiently in these areas. In addition to classroom training, students will work in a realistic setting inside the SI/S3 Studios. At the conclusion of these two-week, 40-hour training courses, graduates will be presented with internship opportunities in the film industry. S3 has previously placed graduates in a variety of professional, paid positions on sets and behind the scenes of Michigan movies and television shows, including Scream 4, Transformers 3, Detroit 1-8-7 and most every other film that has shot in the Detroit area.  Many SI FIT grads will also be given priority to work on The Wannabes, the Michigan-based T V series, starring Radio Disney sensation Savvy, which currently airs in 60 countries and is expected to continue production of its third and fourth seasons inside in the SI/S3 Studios.
