Royal Oak Ice Show Celebrates 30th Anniversary

ROYAL OAK, Mich., April 20, 2009 – The John Lindell Ice Arena will host the 30th Annual Royal Oak Ice Show entitled “PANACHE” on April 30th, May 1st and May 2nd featuring 2008 Eastern Great Lakes gold medalist Alex Newman. Show director Kevin Bryzek made the announcement.
“PANACHE is an entertaining performance that offers something for everyone” says Bryzek. “This special 30th Anniversary show is packed with grace, excitement and outstanding fun for the whole family. Our 72 young, high-energy performers will be wearing a collection of 100 vintage Ice Capade costumes donning tall feathers, bright colors and sparkling gems.”
A Michigan native, Kevin Bryzek is former national amateur and world professional skater. He has directed hundreds of professional productions around the world over the last 18 years. Kevin’s credentials include Seventh Figure, Gold Free-Style, Gold Pair and Silver Dances. He has performed in shows at Sea World and the Hacienda in Las Vegas, and served as the assistant director of “Ice Company” for nine years.
Under the tutelage of coach and choreographer Kevin Bryzek, Alex Newman received a gold medal at the 2008 Eastern Great Lakes Intermediate Men’s competition, and placed in the top 20 at the U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships. During “PANACHE”, Alex will be performing in several group production numbers, as well as skating a solo performance.
