Pending Fiscal Cliff Puts A Renewed Focus on Social Security
By: Chris Austin
Seminar will address social security benefits options for retirees
GLEN MILLS, Pa., November 14, 2012 – Daniel A. White & Associates, a Glen Mills, Pa.-based financial planning firm specializing in addressing the financial needs of those nearing or in retirement, will host a social security seminar devoted to concerns surrounding income planning options for retirees. Dan White, president and founder of Daniel A. White & Associates, will lead the presentation, which will take into account the pressing issues in Washington as Congress works to avoid going over the fiscal cliff.
During the seminar, White will address new and different methods available for retirees to achieve their financial goals, including maximizing income streams and deferring social security payments until 66 – an action that can result in a $500 increase to a $2,000 monthly payment.
“Going along with ‘business as usual’ is not a sound retirement planning strategy today—in fact, it’s a significant risk in this economic climate,” said White. “Social security is a significant part of retirement income – one that many seniors fail to take full advantage of. By focusing on these opportunities, we know we can help seniors enjoy their golden years.”
Due to the ongoing low interest rate environment, the amount of savings needed to generate an equivalent income stream has increased from $163,000 in 2000 to $1.4 million today, putting retirees in a position where they must consider alternative retirement planning options, including using IRA or 401(k) funds earlier to avoid taking social security benefits earlier than necessary.
Reservations are required for this limited seating event and can be made by calling (888) 690 – 8820. The seminar will take place on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the Rachel Kohl Library, located at 687 Smithbridge Rd., Glenn Mills, PA 19342.
