Residential mortgage lender hosts second annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., September 17, 2013 – Southfield, Mich.-based Michigan Mutual, Inc., a nationally recognized full-service residential mortgage lender, collected and donated more than 600 school supplies for Southfield Public Schools as a result of its second annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive. Michigan Mutual, Inc. Co-Founder and Senior Vice President Hale Walker made the announcement.
The supplies collected included everything from backpacks and notebooks to hand sanitizer and Kleenex. They were purchased on behalf of the company following an executive dunk tank fundraiser at the company’s summer picnic in August. Employees also individually contributed additional items, bringing the grand total of donations to more than 600 items. Michigan Mutual, Inc. team members loaded the supplies onto a Southfield Public Schools bus outside the company’s office on Thursday, Sept. 5.
“At Michigan Mutual, Inc., we are always looking for fun and engaging ways to give back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Walker. “With school back in session this month, we felt that collecting supplies for Southfield Public Schools was a timely and meaningful way to contribute to our community’s next generation of leaders.”
