Meadowbrook Insurance Group Founder Merton Segal to be Inducted into the Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 7, 2010 – Meadowbrook Insurance Group, Inc. (NYSE: MIG), a leader in specialty insurance programs based in Southfield, Michigan, announced today that its Founder and Chairman, Merton J. Segal, CPCU, will be inducted into the Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame.   Meadowbrook CEO Robert S. Cubbin made the announcement.

The Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame will honor Mr. Segal and two fellow leaders in the insurance industry at the 17th annual induction ceremony of the Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame on August 18, 2010 on the campus of Olivet College. The Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame was established at Olivet College in 1994 as a way to pay tribute to individuals who have made a significant impact on the ability of the Michigan insurance and risk management industry to serve the public. An election panel, representing a cross-section of the insurance and risk management business, identifies leaders and/or innovators who have made significant contributions to the industry.

Mr. Segal founded Meadowbrook in 1955 as Meadowbrook Insurance Agency. Under his leadership, Meadowbrook grew from a start-up local retail agency into a leading, national specialty risk management insurance company. He is also recognized for his philanthropy and for helping many businesses and groups by developing insurance alternatives when insurance was unaffordable or unavailable. Recently retired, he continues to serve on the Board of Directors as Non-Executive Chairman and as a consultant to Meadowbrook.

Mr. Segal said, “It is an honor to be recognized by such an esteemed organization as the Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame.
