Mendota Plaza to Break Ground on April 29th

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. April 22, 2010 – St. Paul, Minn.-based Paster Enterprises, a leading manager and developer of neighborhood shopping centers in the Twin Cities, announced today that the groundbreaking for the Mendota Plaza redevelopment will take place on Thursday, April 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the Mendota Plaza leasing office, located at 750 Highway 110 in Mendota Heights. Paster Enterprises President Howard Paster made the announcement.

City officials and the Paster Enterprises team will kick off the groundbreaking with a few words about the project and will break ground with the first few shovels of dirt. Community members will also have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the redevelopment project. Food and drinks will be provided by Teresa’s Mexican Restaurant, as well as a “green” shopping bag giveaway.

“We are excited that construction is about to begin on this great project,” said Paster. “The improved Mendota Plaza will be a true community destination and we look forward to providing the residents of Minneapolis with a pedestrian-friendly location to gather, shop and dine.”

The redevelopment will include remodeling the existing 48,000-square-foot building, major parking improvements and significant landscaping enhancements, all of which will be completed by Fall 2010. A 14,820-square-foot, stand-alone Walgreens will also break ground shortly, with a projected completion of Spring 2011.

Future phases, which will be added over the course of the next four years, include the addition of retail buildings, senior housing, office space and a childcare facility. When complete, Mendota Plaza will be more than double its’ current size.
