Hylant Risk Practice Specialist, Spencer Timmel, Earns CIPP/US Certification

Special certification advances knowledge of U.S. privacy laws

TOLEDO, Ohio, June 28, 2013 – Hylant, one of the nation’s largest privately owned insurance brokerage firms, announced today that Spencer Timmel has earned his Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification. Hylant Vice President of the Executive Risk Practice, James R. Lash, made the announcement.

Earning the CIPP/US certification demonstrates a deep understanding of U.S. privacy laws and regulations, including an understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to/from the United States, the European Union and other jurisdictions.

One of five certifications offered by IAPP, CIPP/US was launched in October 2004 as the first professional certification ever to be offered in information privacy. It has since become the preeminent credential in the field of privacy and remains the IAPP’s single largest educational program with several thousand CIPP/US-certified professionals working successfully in the field today.
