By: Amanda Braniecki
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., September 5, 2013 – Trott & Trott, P.C. (Trott), a Farmington Hills, Mich.-based real estate finance law firm, announced that Melissa Byrd, Matthew Theunick, Rana Razzaque and Steven Jacobs were recognized as “Michigan Rising Stars” by Super Lawyers magazine. Trott Managing Partner Jeffrey Raff made the announcement.
To qualify as a “Michigan Rising Star,” candidates must be 40-years-old or under or have been practicing for 10 years or less. Candidates must be nominated by a fellow attorney who has witnessed them in action – whether as co-counsel, as opposing counsel or through first-hand observation. An attorney-led research team then reviews each candidate and assigns points based on a set of defined criteria. Lawyers are ranked by the final point total and those with the highest totals are named to the “Michigan Rising Stars” list.
Byrd joined Trott in 2011 as a litigation attorney concentrating her practice in the areas of bankruptcy and mortgage creditors’ rights. Byrd earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and attended Ave Maria School of Law, where she graduated cum laude with her juris doctor.
Theunick is a senior litigation attorney, focusing his practice on real estate law, mortgage default servicing, curative title, commercial law, and litigation involving foreclosure, evictions, quiet title, condominium lien, construction lien and payment history disputes. He graduated magna cum laude from Oakland University and received his juris doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law.
Razzaque serves as a litigation attorney for Trott, where her practice centers on the mortgage and banking industry, real property and title issues in State and Federal Courts, including appellate work. Razzaque graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from McDaniel College in 2001 and received her juris doctor from the Michigan State University College of Law in 2004.
A litigation attorney at Trott, Jacobs focuses his practice on real estate law, commercial and residential foreclosure, mortgage and default servicing. Jacobs graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and business economics from Wayne State University, and received his juris doctor from the University of Detroit—Mercy School of Law.
