Detroit Country Day School Names Jennifer A. Bullock as Director of Lower School

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich., July 2, 2013— Detroit Country Day School (DCDS) is pleased to announce Jennifer A. Bullock has been named Lower School director. Detroit Country Day School Headmaster Glen Shilling made the announcement.
In her new role, Ms. Bullock will be an instrumental member of the administration, where she will work to advance the DCDS mission of excellence in academics, athletics and the arts, and ensure this exceptional tradition is seamless and consistent for all students throughout their DCDS education. Her duties will include managing the Lower School’s faculty and administrative personnel, as well as the interactions among students in grades Pre-K through 2, developing and executing the curriculum for grades Pre-K through grade 2, and directing the admissions for the Lower School, among many other administrative responsibilities.
“My educational vision revolves around the principles of mission, community, collaboration, and lifelong learning,” said Bullock. “I cheerfully and energetically apply these principles to my work as an educator and an administrator. I can think of no greater pleasure than to continue this philosophy as the lower school director.”
Bullock has more than 17 years of classroom teaching experience, expertise in curriculum design and review, and proven ability in faculty enrichment, parent support and independent school administration. During her tenure at DCDS, Ms. Bullock has served as a teacher, parent educator, Curriculum Leadership Council member and English/Language Arts coordinator, and Junior School admissions representative. Most recently, Ms. Bullock served as DCDS Junior School dean of students. She has also been an active representative to independent school professional organizations Association of Independent Michigan Schools and Independent Schools Association of the Central States. Ms. Bullock holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Arts degree in curriculum and teaching from Michigan State University.
