Corrigan and IAC shipped medical supplies to the nonprofit’s clinic in Kenya
ROMULUS, Mich., August 23, 2013 — Corrigan Air & Sea Cargo Systems, a division of the Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Corrigan Moving Systems, joined forces with International Automotive Components (IAC) to donate the funds and services needed to ship medical supplies to Kenya Relief’s clinic in western Kenya. Corrigan Air & Sea Vice President Michael Murphy made the announcement.
“For more than 10 years, I’ve made it my life’s mission to improve the quality of life in Kenya,” said Steve James, founder of Kenya Relief. “The generosity shown by Corrigan, IAC and all of our donors is a true blessing.”
A contributor to Kenya Relief since 2010, Corrigan Air & Sea has been receiving and storing medical equipment and other supplies—including surgical/operating tables, anesthesia machines, walkers, laser equipment, eye exam tables, food supplies, bicycles and lawn mowers—from donors since April. In addition, Corrigan Moving Systems, a full-service relocation company dedicated to elevating the moving experience for families and businesses, donated a moving crew and truck to transport donated medical equipment from Minnesota and Illinois to Corrigan Air & Sea’s warehouse in Romulus. Corrigan Air & Sea and IAC donated the funds necessary to ship the two 40’ Shipper Owned Containers overseas to the clinic.
“As a family-owned company, we are committed to moving the lives of our customers and their communities, both locally and internationally,” Murphy said. “Kenya Relief is a phenomenal organization, and it is an honor to help carry out their mission. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity and IAC’s participation in this project.”
Since its founding in 2002, Kenya Relief has helped treat 70,000 patients with free medicine, sent 750,000 nutritious meals to Kenya, built a neighboring school for 650 students, purchased 60 acres of land to establish Brittney’s Home of Grace, which is now home to more than 140 orphans. The organization’s most recent project is to construct the Kenya Relief Medical Center, a modern, 300-bed hospital that is expected to break ground in 2014.
