Chesapeake Hospitality Employees Raise $71,000 for Give Kids The World

GREENBELT, Md., Dec. 08, 2014– Chesapeake Hospitality, one of the country’s fastest growing third-party hotel management companies, announced today that during the course of 2014, the company employees raised a total of $71,000 to donate to Give Kids The World Village (GKTW), a 70-acre, nonprofit “storybook” resort where children with life-threatening illnesses and their families are treated to cost-free fantasy vacations. Kim Sims, President of Chesapeake Hospitality, made the announcement.
“We continue to be impressed by the generosity of our employees year after year,” said Sims. “We are honored to serve as a partner to such an impactful organization that makes dreams come true for qualifying families.”
This was also the third consecutive year that the company has sponsored trips for one employee ambassador from each Chesapeake Hospitality operated hotel to volunteer at the Kissimmee, Fla.-based resort and experience its life-changing mission first hand.
“The annual team member visits to Give Kids The World Village have become an important cornerstone of our culture and operations,” said Sims. “Raising money for this important cause is an essential first step in reaching out and making a difference, but volunteering and interacting with these very special families is a truly inspiring and humbling experience that is transformative for many attendees.”
More than 2,500 employees contributed to the organization through various giving channels, including Chesapeake’s voluntary payroll deduction program, which allows employees to transfer contributions directly from their paychecks. Additionally, each hotel was empowered to create its own initiatives resulting in creative hotel fundraisers from property car washes to Cupids and Cocktails Valentine’s Day events to full sponsorship of charity golf tournaments.
This year’s fundraising efforts outperformed the company’s 2013 contribution by more than $10,000.
Chesapeake Hospitality property ambassadors visit the Give Kids The World Village in Florida. Each year, the company selects a delegation of hourly paid team members to visit the resort to experience its life-changing work first hand. In 2014, employees contributed $71,000 to this worthy cause.
