DETROIT, Mich., June 15, 2010 – AGIS, a full-service employee benefits brokerage agency headquartered in Birmingham, Mich. will host a no-cost informative seminar on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) entitled, “HIPAA and the HITECH Act of 2009” on Thursday, June 24, 2010. Breakfast and registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., with the seminar following from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Troy Community Center, located at 3179 Livernois Road in Troy.
This informative seminar will examine a wide range of issues relating to the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and their impact on employers who sponsor group health plans. Anyone who handles a group health plan sponsored by a company with 20 or more employees is encouraged to attend. Topics covered will include:

– HIPAA compliance deadlines and obligations
– Easy-to-use compliance tools
