AGIS of Tampa Bay Forgoes Client Gifts, Donates to Local Charity

CLEARWATER, Fla., December 2, 2008—AGIS, a full-service insurance agency with an office in Tampa Bay, has evaluated current economic conditions in the state of Florida and has made a charitably strategic decision this holiday season. Instead of distributing the traditional holiday gifts to its client roster in a seasonal rite of corporate gratitude, AGIS will this year donate those funds to a local charity.
The Tampa Bay office of AGIS will make a financial contribution to Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast.
The program is a company-wide initiative in AGIS’s five offices in three states, Michigan, Florida and Indiana.
“In current economic times, we anticipate that charitable giving will be down this year in Florida, and that’s a shame,” said Pat Kirchner, president of AGIS’s Tampa Bay office. “So we will use this opportunity to do our part to reverse that trend. We will commit ourselves this holiday gift-giving season to supporting important projects in our community.”
Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast strives to influence the behavior and attitudes of boys and girls through the age of 17 in a wholesome manner. Through activities such as computer learning and technology, sports teams, tutoring, civic involvement and community service, and many more, the organization promotes the social, educational, vocational, character and leadership development in each of its nine area locations.
“This organization deserves to be recognized for the outstanding work it does throughout the year in the community,” said Kirchner. “We are proud to be associated with such an important charity.”
Kirchner hopes that this is a trend that will catch on with other corporate citizens who are in a position to help where help is needed most.
“Our clients and associates, I think, will appreciate our decision, and will be fine with one less fruit basket or crystal pen this year,” Kirchner added. “Maybe it will catch on beyond AGIS and be the start of a new tradition.”
