Andrea Trapani Wins 2018 Crain’s Detroit Business Notable Women in Marketing Award

By: Mark Winter

We lured Andrea to Identity in 2004 after short, but impactful, first job experience at the Detroit News. We did not need to teach her what life in a news room was like or how to pitch a story. She had been immersed in it.

I used to say that the carpet in front of my door was worn out because of the amount of time Andrea spent in my doorway. She was curious, smart, passionate and driven.  It was clear that she had a plan for herself, and I knew early on that we had a plan for her, too.

Managing a mid-sized agency today with a large and diverse client roster is a challenge. It takes smarts, patience, confidence and leadership.

Over the last 14 years, Andrea has been a driving force in the success, evolution and innovation at Identity. That’s why I’m so incredibly proud that she was selected by Crain’s Detroit Business to receive their 2018 Notable Women in Marketing award.

Like me, Andrea’s journey has been filled with incredible successes and plenty of painful learning experiences. It is how she has navigated through and grown from those challenges that makes her so special. She is a fighter. She is a leader.

Andrea has never shied away from sharing her skills and insights–cultivating a talented team that understands the ever-evolving media landscape, thinks creatively and strategically, values strong relationships, and is always thinking of the next big idea to fulfill client strategies.

Andrea is a continuous learner and unafraid to try new things, but she is also disciplined enough to move on if something isnt working out. From big strategic moves, investing in new technologies and the integration of innovative training programs–Andrea is focused on moving the ball forward everyday.

An office shut-in Andrea is not. She is constantly on the move.  When she is not dreaming up the agency’s next move, she’s on the front lines–interacting with every department in the agency, keeping a pulse on every account and still taking a strategic role with multiple clients.

Andrea is both a strong manager and a disruptor. That’s rare and remarkable. I’ve had a front row seat to watch her grow and flourish, and I’ve been fortunate and grateful that her success has been our success.

Congratulations, Andrea, on your much-deserved honor. Identity’s 20th anniversary year would look very different if you hadn’t said yes nearly 15 years ago.
