Identity Recognized by IABC with 2018 Awards of Excellence
By: Andrea Trapani
As Identity celebrates 20 years in business this month, I find myself reflecting on the library of incredible work our team has been able to produce. From masterful media relations strategies to high-end digital campaigns, our quality has never wavered.
In fact, this year–with a continued focus on the Modern PR Mix–we’ve created some of our best work to date, as evidenced by Identity’s recognition with two IABC Awards of Excellence. We’re proud of our team and to continue to be recognized for our creative strategies and results.
Our Team accepted two Awards of Excellence at the IABC Detroit Renaissance Awards this past week for our media relations and #IntegratedPR work with #clients @hudsonville_ic and @SEALIFEMichigan. IABC Detroit Renaissance Award Winner – Carr’s Arrival at SEA LIFE Michigan
The IABC Detroit Renaissance Award was established nearly four decades ago to recognize excellence in communications in the state of Michigan, as well as the Toledo, Ohio, area. Identity won a 2018 IABC Detroit Renaissance Award for our work in promoting the arrival of Carr, the rescued green sea turtle, to client SEA LIFE Michigan Aquarium.
To help make a big splash in the community, Identity created a wide-ranging PR strategy to generate high impact media and social media exposure. The goal was to garner sustained visibility before, during and after Carr’s inauguration at SEA LIFE. Through our stellar relationships with the media, we secured more than 50 high-impact media segments across print, broadcast and digital outlets celebrating Carr’s arrival. We also coordinated and facilitated a VIP arrival event attended by more than 70 bloggers, media members and community influencers.
In the end, our team effectively engaged the community and elevated a message of conservation and education. Our creative strategy and execution delivered a high-profile media event that produced wide visibility and valuable conversations well after the waters had calmed.
IABC Heritage Region Silver Quill Award Winner – Detroit’s Birthday Bash with Hudsonville
A hallmark of communications excellence, the IABC Heritage Region Silver Quill Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments within nearly two dozen states (and Washington D.C.) in the Midwest and East Coast. Identity won a 2018 IABC Heritage Region Silver Quill Award for our work partnering with client Hudsonville Ice Cream to celebrate Detroit’s 316th birthday.
What better way to celebrate a birthday than with free ice cream? The party, held in Detroit’s Cadillac Square, featured free scoops of Hudsonville to brand fans, and included photographers, media partners, a DJ, fun giveaways and more.
Through three hours, more than 3,000 scoops were shared, dozens of media hits generated, and hundreds upon hundreds of online conversations started. The event’s success helped Identity further establish Hudsonville as the ice cream brand of choice in Detroit and enhanced the brand’s value perception among local consumers.
Congratulations to our passionate account teams and these two Identity clients. Their work truly embodies what it means to ‘leave a mark,’ and I couldn’t be prouder of their success. It is an exciting time here at the agency – and this is just one of many ways we continue to create, evolve, grow and deliver.
We’re ready to build on this momentum in 2019 and continue delivering stellar, award-winning work. We are pumped about an incredible year ahead.
