SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 3, 2012 – Meadowbrook Insurance Group, Inc. (Meadowbrook, NYSE: MIG), a leader in specialty insurance programs based in Southfield, Michigan, partnered with Focus: HOPE for the company’s latest volunteer project. Meadowbrook Senior Vice President of Human Resources Susan Cubbin made the announcement.
Focus: HOPE is a Detroit-based organization dedicated to intelligent and practical solutions to the problems of hunger, economic disparity, inadequate education and racial divisiveness. In addition to support for the initiative within the corporate headquarters, 24 Meadowbrook associates volunteered their time at Focus: HOPE in Detroit for a full day packing over 1,100 boxes of food for delivery to homebound senior citizens. Meadowbrook team members also collectively donated a variety of gardening supplies, from gloves to shovels, that are needed to maintain the non-profit’s community garden, which feeds needy members of the local community. Additionally, Meadowbrook also presented Focus: HOPE with a monetary donation and will serve as a sponsor of the organization’s 38th Annual WALK, which will be held on October 14, 2012.
“Focus: HOPE is such a wonderful organization and we are very happy to contribute to their effort to fight hunger in our communities,” said Cubbin. “Our associates took this initiative very seriously and we are extremely proud of their willingness to help out those who are less fortunate than themselves.”
Volunteering at Focus: HOPE, and hosting a food drive for the organization, is one of several charitable initiatives that Meadowbrook associates have planned for the year. Other associates will also be volunteering for work at Gleaners Community Food Bank. For more information on Focus: HOPE, please visit, www.focushope.edu.
