Video of the Week: BBC’s Frozen Planet Augmented Reality Event

Posted filed under Creative.

Imagine you’re at your local mall, and there’s a slab of ice, water and animals straight out of the Arctic. Not your everyday scene, right?

That’s what happened at several locations across the country back in April when BBC Home Entertainment, in conjunction with appshaker, created a U.S. augmented reality tour to promote BBC’s Frozen Planet on Blu-ray and DVD.

I completely agree with what the Digital Buzz Blog says about this use of augmented reality – “What I love about this installation, is it doesn’t feel like your typical AR renderings, it has a solid level of realism to it, which enhances the whole experience, which was also streamed live.”

Enjoy the video!
