Wondering what happened to Tiger
Posted on February 01st, 2010 in Media, Public Relations, Web, Web 2.0, social media, social networking
I’m not suggesting that no one is covering the Tiger Woods saga anymore but it is nice to see that the traditional media (whatever that means today) has moved on. For several weeks the headline on the day’s paper or the lead story on the news was the obligatory Tiger update. The amount of coverage of the story became its own story.
But if you’re still wanting to follow Tiger’s every move, don’t worry. There are a lot of sites out there that will help you do just that. Just another example of how stories never die on the web.

This goes back to what we’ve been saying all along: Eventually, the story WILL go away. When you’re in crisis mode as a brand (or even, in this case, a personality), how and when it goes away depends largely on your participation in the story. We’ve chronicled in this space how Tiger failed to do that in any meaningful way and, as a result, the story got out of control and perpetuated. If you ignore it, it won’t go away…at least not soon enough.
